If you want to be able to send text from your computer to your phone, you absolutely can. You've just gotta flip one switch to unlock the possibility.

In Chrome on your computer, type chrome:flags into the address bar and then type clipboard into the box at the top of the page that comes up. Look for the option labeled “Enable shared clipboard feature signals to be handled.” Click the box next to it and change its setting from “Default” to “Enabled,” then click the blue Relaunch button at the bottom of the screen.

Once your browser restarts, go to any web page you want, highlight some text, then right-click with your mouse in that same area (or tap with two fingers at the same time, if you're using a trackpad). And hey, how 'bout that?

Right there in the browser's contextual menu is a handy new “Copy to your device” option. Just hover over that, pick your phone from the list, then pick up your phone and long-press in any field to paste the text right over.
